MORE EPSTEIN EMAILS RELEASED
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released more of the Jeffrey Epstein files, in the form of emails to/from Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell and Trump biographer Michael Wolff. And they’re VERY bad for Trump, because they claim that Trump spent a lot of time at Epstein’s house with one of the victims (long after Trump supposedly cut him off), and that “Trump knew about the girls”.
In response, the Republicans on the committee released 20,000 pages of the Epstein files. Amazing how possession of evidence by your adversary can sharpen your definition of transparency.
The White House had a response, too, and it was to summon Rep. Lauren Boebert to the grounds to be berated by Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, and Todd Blanche, in an effort to get her to change her vote on the Epstein discharge petition, before Dem Rep Adelita Grijalva is sworn in this afternoon. Unless Trump can get 1 of 4 Republicans to withdraw, Grijalva’s vote will force Republicans to declare whether or not they support pedophilia.

TRUMP PARDONS ELECTION FRAUDSTERS
President Donald Trump, in a document dated 11/7/25, has pardoned more than 70 people suspected of working to overturn the 2020 election. Many of those pardoned still face state charges.
Among those pardoned are Rudy Giuliani (who has been disbarred in New York and Washington DC over his efforts to overturn the election), John Eastman (also disbarred), Mark Meadows (Trump’s former chief of staff), and attorneys Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis.
Typically, a person receiving a pardon must accept responsibility for the underlying offense. This is nothing less than an admission by Trump that he did, in fact, try to overturn the 2020 election. Can a president of the US commit a greater crime than attempting to defraud an election?

TRUMP WANTS STADIUM NAMED AFTER HIM
The Washington Commanders are getting a new stadium in DC, and Donald Trump wants them to name it after him.
“That would surely be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible," said Karoline Leavitt, press secretary for the Republican president.” This is, of course, a bald face lie from the press secretary, as it was President Joe Biden who made the stadium possible. The only thing Trump did was threaten to kill the deal if the Commanders did not revert to their old racist name, the Redskins.
“"The Washington "Whatever's" should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team. There is a big clamoring for this," Mr. Trump wrote in a July 20 social media post.”

PELOSI TO RETIRE
The woman who was the 1st, 2nd, and so far only woman to serve as Speaker of the House, has announced her retirement. 85 year old Nancy Pelosi will not run for reelection in 2026.
She will be remembered as one of the most effective Speakers to ever hold the position.

AMERICAN HOUSEHOLD DEBT SKYROCKETS
In another sign of how poorly the economy is doing for average folks, household debt in America has hit an astonishing 18.59 trillion dollars, according to data provided by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
It’s another sign of Trump’s “K shaped” economy, where the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and the middle class get squeezed right out.

BLUE WAVE 2025
In what many pundits and voters themselves are calling a stunning rebuke of Donald Trump’s rapacious presidency, Democratic politicians and initiatives pretty much ran the table in yesterday’s elections. And, despite polls showing races tightening in the days leading up to the election, none of the results were even close.
In New York city, 34 year old Zohran Mamdani won with 50.4% of the vote, over disgraced former governor Andrew Cuomo’s 41.6%.
In New Jersey, in a governor’s race that was predicted to be tight, Democrat Mikie Sherrill defeated Republican Jack Ciattarelli by 13 points, 56.2% to 43.2%.
In Virginia, Abigail Spanberger defeated Winsome Earle Sears by an ever bigger margin, 57.5% to 42.3%. A Democrat won the Attorney General election over an incumbent Republican, surviving a violent text scandal that threatened to derail his campaign. And, Democrats may have even picked up a super majority in the Virginia legislature.
In California, Proposition 50, also known as the “Election Rigging Response Act”, passed with 63.8% of the vote, a majority that was even higher than the vote that created the California Independent Redistricting Commission. California is now free to counter the shameless mid cycle redistricting Texas did at the behest of President Trump.
Here in Michigan, Mary Sheffield became the first woman ever elected Mayor of Detroit.

ELECTION DAY 2025
Not much is happening in Michigan, other than local issues, but there are some important elections going on in other states.
Residents of New York city will decide on a new mayor.
New Jersey will elect a new governor.
Virginia will elect a new governor.
Pennsylvanians will decide if they wish to extend the terms of 3 Democratic leaning justices of the Supreme Court.
Californians will decide if they wish to temporarily set aside their independent redistricting commission and redraw their congressional districts. This is in response to Texas doing a controversial gerrymander mid decade at the behest of President Trump.

SUPREME COURT TO HEAR TARIFF ARGUMENTS WEDNESDAY
Having lost 3 times in lower courts, the Trump Administration is taking their case to the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
At issue is Trump’s use of the 1977 law, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). By declaring America’s trade deficit as an “emergency”, the law allows Trump to bypass congressional approval. Because the Constitution is pretty clear - tariffs are the domain of Congress, not the president.
Trump has forecast economic disaster if SCOTUS rules against him.

2 FEDERAL COURTS RULE SNAP MUST BE FUNDED
Federal courts in Massachusetts and Rhode Island have ruled that the Trump administration must fund SNAP during the government shutdown.
Trump has said he will comply, but claims the rulings conflict and has asked the courts to clarify their orders. One could be forgiven for viewing this as a delaying tactic, since Trump has a long history of doing just that.
And, if you want to know why the President of the United States decided to use the food security of 1 in every 8 Americans as a bargaining chip, this quote should help: “But when you’re talking about SNAP, if you look it’s largely Democrats.”

THE KING COMMANDS: REMOVE THE FILIBUSTER
As the government shutdown enters it’s 31st day, President (not King) Donald Trump posted a demand that Senate Republicans end the filibuster to resolve the impasse. This, despite Trump’s own social media posts from 2011 and 2013 saying that the President bore responsibility for any shutdown due to a lack of leadership.
This marks the 4th time the government has shut down under Trump’s two tenures.
At issue is a continuing resolution to fund the government. Democrats voted FOR this, back in March, after receiving assurances from Republicans that they would have real input and debate about the so called “Big, Beautiful Bill”. Instead, Republicans rammed it through without a single Democratic amendment or vote. And the “Big, Beautiful Bill” trashed Medicaid and ACA subsidies. If allowed to occur, most Americans would see their healthcare premiums double or even triple.
The short form is, Democrats are trying to save American healthcare. We’re about to find out how many Senate Republicans have a spine.

TRUMP ORDERS RESUMPTION OF NUCLEAR TESTING
The US has not tested a nuclear warhead since 1992. In fact, the only country to detonate a nuclear weapon since 1998 is North Korea.
It is unclear whether Trump was referring to testing nuclear delivery systems (which are already tested regularly) or the warheads themselves.

BORDER PATROL TEAR GASSES KIDS HALLOWEEN PARADE
Chicago is now a city under siege by the Trump administration. Last weekend, Border Patrol agents disrupted an entire Chicago community, including a children’s Halloween parade, in pursuit of a single criminal suspect.
When neighborhood residents expressed their displeasure, agents responded with tear gas. It’s hard to see how these tactics improve relationships between communities and law enforcement.

SNAP BENEFITS TO END NOVEMBER 1
The US Department of Agriculture has announced that Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payments will not be going out for November unless Democrats agree to end the government shutdown. It’s the latest attempt by the Trump administration to bludgeon Democrats into accepting the trashing of the national healthcare system to give tax breaks to billionaires.
And, it doesn’t have to be. There is a contingency fund, set up specifically to get SNAP through funding lapses like this, and it has 5 billion dollars in it. Trump is refusing to use it for it’s intended purpose.
1 in every 8 Americans receive SNAP benefits. As usual, the cruelty is the point.

NO FEMA AID FOR MICHIGAN
Remember the once in a century ice storm that ravaged Northern Michigan last spring? The Trump administration’s Federal Emergency Management Agency has denied Michigan’s request for additional funding to deal with the aftermath of that disaster.
The state was requesting “Public Assistance Category F funding, which would have supported permanent repairs to damaged utilities, and Individual Assistance, which helps residents with housing and disaster-related losses.”

REGIME TO MONITOR ELECTIONS IN CALIFORNIA, NEW JERSEY
Attorney General Pam Bondi has announced that the Department of Justice will monitor elections November 4th in California and New Jersey, 2 states where Democrats stand to make significant gains.
Officials from both states have blasted the move, calling it voter suppression and an attempt by the Trump administration to undermine public faith in elections using his weaponized DOJ.

WHITE HOUSE DESTROYED
The East Wing of our national treasure, the White House, lays in ruins today. Not from enemy bombs or a terrorist attack. From bulldozers and wrecking balls under the command of President Donald Trump.
He didn’t ask permission. He didn’t go to Congress or any of the agencies charged with preserving American history. He just went ahead and did it, as if he owns the place, despite promising back in July that the White House would not be touched for his vanity ballroom project.
Republicans are cheering this wanton debasement of a historical American monument, just as they are cheering Trump’s destruction of our democracy.

TRUMP WANTS DOJ TO PAY HIM 230 MILLION DOLLARS
That’s not a typo. The President of the United States is demanding that the Department of Justice pay him 230 million dollars.
For what, you may ask? Supposed violations of his rights in the Russia collusion investigation and the investigation into classified documents that he stole and brazenly refused to return.
Now, whose money is that, exactly? Right again, it’s yours and mine.
Now comes the best part. Who is going to decide whether he gets the money? Why, the Attorney General he appointed to be a lapdog for him.
It’s pretty safe to say that the US government has never seen this level of corruption.

ARIZONA SUES THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has filed a lawsuit against Speaker of the House Mike Johnson for his failure to swear in Adelita Grijalva, who won the special election for her seat on September 23.
The suit seeks to compel Johnson to swear her in, or allow someone else to do it. Arizona argues that Johnson’s intransigence denies the right of representation to Arizona residents in her district, a fact that’s pretty hard to dispute.
The most widely held belief about Johnson’s failure is that Grijalva will represent the final vote needed to bring the Epstein discharge petition to the House floor, which will force Republicans to declare whether they support protecting pedophiles or not.

TRUMP DUMPS ON AMERICA
On Saturday, October 18, 7 million Americans took to the streets to protest the policies of the Trump administration. There were no riots, no property damage, no injuries, and very few arrests. It was the largest such demonstration in our country’s history, and it was conducted in a manner above reproach.
The President’s response to this criticism? He posted an amateurish video depicting himself as a king, flying over protests and dropping what can only be described as feces on the protesters below.
Unfortunately, we have come to expect this sort of childish behavior from the most powerful person on the planet.

7 MILLION SAY “NO KINGS”
In towns large and small across the country, an estimated 7 million Americans took part in No Kings Day 2. The number of protests is around 2700, and they took place in every state.
This, despite efforts from the White House and Republican Party to intimidate the public into not going. The hand wringing and pearl clutching was epic in the days leading up to the protests, with many Republicans naming them “hate America rallies” and trying to tie them to Hamas or Antifa.
Instead, what happened is the largest peaceful protest in American history. Arrests were very few, and there were no reports of violence or property destruction. In fact, many protesters carried American flags, which would be counterintuitive for a “hate America” rally.
Roscommon County’s No Kings protest took place in Houghton Lake at Veteran’s Park at the corner of M-55 and M-18. At it’s peak, an estimated 100 people participated.

REPUBLICANS LOSE THEIR MINDS OVER NO KINGS DAY
Estimates are that around 3000 No Kings protests are going to take place tomorrow across the nation, and it’s driving Republicans crazy.
GOP leaders Mike Johnson, Tom Emmer, Steve Scalise, and Roger Marshall have all called No Kings a “hate America rally”, and labeled participants as Hamas supporters and Antifa. In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott is assigning the Texas National Guard to the No Kings rallies there, claiming that they are “Antifa linked”.
From hearing this nonsense, you might come to the conclusion that they all sound the same, and there is considerable evidence that these talking points come from the White House itself. Because Donald Trump knows that these protests are not about hating America. They are about opposing his efforts to trash our constitution and become a dictator, and he doesn’t like that. So much so, in fact, that Trump is preparing to respond by firing missiles into what he considers an enemy state, California, on Saturday.
You can participate in a No Kings near you, in Houghton Lake, West Branch, Gladwin, Cadillac, Gaylord. Be safe, be peaceful, do not respond to any agitation you might encounter from right wing provocateurs.

JUDGE BLOCKS MASS LAYOFFS
Donald Trump had an interesting strategy to force Democrats to defund Obamacare while funding tax breaks for oligarchs. He would find Democrats employed by the federal government and fire them, until the Democratic party caved.
US District Judge Susan Illston in San Francisco has put a stop to that with a temporary restraining order.

The CEO of money raising site GoFundMe, Tim Cadogan, says the economy is so bad that people are increasingly using his site to raise money for basic necessities, like food.
It’s a pretty stark shift from getting people through an unforeseen emergency to just helping them get through the day.

INSURRECTION ACT ON THE TABLE
Both the President and Vice President of the United States are strongly signalling that they are okey dokey with invoking the Insurrection Act if federal courts won’t give them their way. Their way, by the way, is having the US military patrol the streets of cities with Democratic mayors.
There does not seem to be any justification for such an act. No US cities are currently experiencing any notable civil disturbance, unless inflatable animal costumes cause you stress.
The last time the Insurrection Act was invoked was by Bush 1 in 1992, in response to the Los Angeles “Rodney King” riots. Those were real riots.

ELECTION TAMPERING CASE GOES TO TRIAL
Preliminary examination of 3 defendants charged with tampering in the 2020 election began Thursday, but was put on hold Friday as issues of evidence admissibility are argued.
The 3 are former State Representative Daire Rendon (R- Lake City), former Attorney General candidate Matthew DePerno, and attorney Stephanie Lambert Junttila. The 3 were indicted in 2023, after an investigation by Special Prosecutor DJ Hilson. They are charged with illegally accessing voting tabulators from Barry, Missaukee, and Roscommon counties.
At issue are text messages DePerno exchanged with a witness in the case. The preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled to resume December 18.

JUDGE STOPS ILLINOIS INVASION
U.S. District Judge April Perry issued a temporary restraining order Thursday to halt the Trump administration from deploying ANY National Guard troops anywhere in the state of Illinois.
In her remarkable ruling, Judge Perry said she had no faith in the government’s claims of out-of-control violence and that it was federal agents who started it by aggressively targeting protesters with tear gas and militaristic tactics, and that allowing troops to come into Chicago “will only add fuel to the fire that the defendants themselves have started.”
Judge Perry said her ruling was “due in large part of a growing body of evidence that the Department of Homeland Security’s views are “simply unreliable.”

TEXAS INVADES ILLINOIS
In a scene reminiscent of 1860s America, the Texas National Guard has invaded the State of Illinois. This was done at the behest of President Donald Trump, with troops volunteered by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. The excuse given for this clear constitutional violation is it’s to protect ICE agents as they go about the business of terrorizing Chicago residents.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson have specifically stated that they do not want or need them. Mayor Johnson, in fact, recently signed an executive order prohibiting the use of Chicago municipal property by ICE agents.
In response, President Trump posted that Pritzker and Johnson “should be in jail”.
As the aggressive politicization of the American military continues, confrontations with the residents of Chicago and Portland are growing. The informed observer could easily arrive at the conclusion that this is exactly the point.

US MILITARY SINKS FOURTH
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the US military had obliterated another boat off the coast of Venezuela on Friday, killing it’s 4 occupants. This is the fourth such strike by US forces, and brings the total death toll to 21.
Just to be clear, the way the US used to handle boats suspected of drug smuggling was to capture them, board them, question the crew, and impound any illegal drugs. In other words, they were given due process.
The Trump Administration procedure is just to blow them away, with no evidence that the people were trafficking drugs or were even gang members.
There’s a word for killing people without giving them due process. That word is murder.

SENATOR SLOTKIN CALLS OUT FASCISM
“Yesterday’s military spectacle from Secretary Hegseth and President Trump should be seen for what it is: a critical moment in our history, and our story as Americans.
First, and most importantly: they accelerated their case that America is in the middle of a violent insurrection that the military must quell. The President believes he is the hero of his own story and is willing to hurt the standing of the U.S. military to look tough in public.
On top of LA and DC, the commander in chief laid out his goal of using our cities as military "training grounds" and called on American generals to fight "the war from within."
Make no mistake, this is NOT about fighting crime. If he truly cared about the safety of these cities, he could use his broad authority to provide police forces in those cities, hire hundreds of new officers, or, in the case of DC, re-hire the National Park Service workers who used to pick up trash in federal parks.
Instead, the President is using a well-worn playbook that seeks to consolidate the use of force and improperly turn the military into the enforcers of his political agenda. It should make all of us deeply uncomfortable, because while it’s someone else’s city today, it could be your city tomorrow.
One day, historians will study this moment in history, and the scene that took place yesterday. What’s unclear is what the final story will look like.
The military is the most trusted institution in the country. It's the most lethal fighting force the world has ever known, and a cornerstone of American power.
President Trump and Secretary Hegseth are attempting to manipulate it for their own gain, tarnishing the military’s reputation and making American citizens suspicious and fearful of their own protectors.
All this makes us less safe in the process. If you care about the military — not to mention democracy — you should mark yesterday in your calendars as a sad and historic moment in our history.”

SHUTDOWN LOOMS
Lacking any last minute agreement, the US Government will begin shutting down on Wednesday, October 1. At issue is the Republican defunding of Medicaid, gutting healthcare for millions of Americans. Senate Democrats have said they will not agree to any budget or continuing resolution that does not restore funding at least partially.
Democratic votes are necessary to pass any measure and avoid a filibuster.
What this means for most of us is reduced government services. Social Security payments will still go out, but some National Parks may close and many government workers will be furloughed without pay or, worse yet, be forced to work without pay. President Trump has also threatened to fire many workers permanently if the government shuts down.

MISSOURI ELECTIONS RIGGED
Following Texas’ lead, Missouri has become the second state to change the rules in the middle of the game to favor Republicans. The goal of the new redistricting of congressional districts is to gerrymander the Show Me State to such a degree that it flips 1 Democratic seat to Republican in Missouri’s congressional delegation.

TRUMP TO INVADE PORTLAND
President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he intends to send troops to the city of Portland, Oregon. Trump’s announcement also included the ominous “authorizing Full Force, if necessary” to handle “domestic terrorists”.
The question on everyone’s mind is why? The Governor of Oregon and the Mayor of Portland have not asked for assistance. Indeed, none is needed. Portland, the scene of some intense protests in 2020, is pretty calm these days.

FBI FIRES AGENTS WHO KNEELED
The FBI has fired approximately 20 agents who were photographed kneeling with protesters during the 2020 George Floyd protests.
Many law enforcement agencies did the same, using sympathy with the protesters as a de-escalation tactic.
Other agents have been fired because they investigated Donald Trump and/or his associates.
This despite assurances from FBI Director Kash Patel that politics would not be involved in his decisions.

COMEY INDICTED
Former FBI Director James Comey was indicted by a grand jury yesterday on one count of making false statements to Congress and one count of obstruction. Each felony carries a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison. Comey will be arraigned on October 9th.
The charges stem from testimony Comey gave before the Senate. An Inspector General report from 2018 exonerated Comey of wrongdoing.
Comey issued a statement last night. “We will not live on our knees, and you shouldn't either. Somebody that I love dearly recently said that fear is the tool of a tyrant, and she's right, but I'm not afraid, and I hope you're not either. I hope instead you are engaged, you are paying attention, and you will vote like your beloved country depends upon it, which it does.”
The grand jury refused to indict on one other charge.

TRUMP LECTURES UNITED NATIONS
In a 55 minute diatribe that would be extraordinary had he not done it before, President Donald Trump used the 15 minutes allotted to him to castigate and complain about the body to which he was speaking.
Trump complained about everything UN, from their teleprompters and escalators to immigration policy and climate change.
As one example of his superior statesmanship, Trump said at one point “I’m really good at this stuff. Your countries are going to hell”.

JIMMY KIMMEL UNCANCELED - BUT NOT FOR US
In a stunning reversal, Disney/ABC returned Jimmy Kimmel Live to the airwaves last night, a week after they took him off for comments about Charlie Kirk and President Trump. The move was rumored to have been because of historic push back and subscription cancellations by fans of the 1st Amendment outraged at Kimmel’s removal.
But, if you live in Northern Michigan, you can be forgiven if you are unaware of this. Stations WGTQ, WGTU, WPBN, and WTOM are all owned or operated by Sinclair Broadcast Group, which has imposed corporate censorship on all of their stations, and is refusing to broadcast Kimmel.
Trump, meanwhile, was predictably outraged, and is threatening to sue ABC for “illegal campaign contributions”.

TRUMP SICS DOJ ON OPPONENTS
In a Truth Social post Saturday night, President Trump called on the DOJ to prosecute prominent opponents, naming former FBI Director James Comey, Senator Adam Schiff, and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
"We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility. They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!"
Presumably, Trump wants this done whether or not there is any actual evidence of a crime. On Friday, the Acting US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia resigned. He had been tasked with investigating James, and his resignation was because he couldn’t find enough evidence against her to bring charges, as Trump is demanding.

EVEN CONSERVATIVES ARE WORRIED ABOUT THE 1ST AMENDMENT
It’s not just Democrats who are disgusted by FCC Chair Brendan Carr’s threats to silence networks viewed as unkind to Trump. At least a couple noted conservatives are as well.
Senator Ted Cruz chairs the Commerce Committee, which has oversight of the FCC. He called Carr’s actions “dangerous as hell”.
Meanwhile, right wing activist Tucker Carlson suggested that further erosion of the 1st Amendment would be justification for civil disobedience.

TRUMP TIMES SUIT TOSSED
President Donald Trump’s lawsuit against the New York Times was dismissed yesterday by US District Judge Steven Merryday, an HW Bush appointee, only days after it was filed.
Judge Merryday said the suit can be refiled within 28 days, but must be no more than 40 pages, less than half of the original 85. His order of dismissal was also scathingly sarcastic, calling into question whether the president’s lawyers know what they’re doing at all.

DOJ REMOVES STUDY ON FAR RIGHT VIOLENCE
The US Department of Justice has quietly removed from it’s web site a study that concludes the far right is responsible for the lion’s share of domestic terrorism.
The study found that, since 1990, the far right has committed 87% of the murders ascribed to an ideological motive. The study was conducted by the National Institute of Justice.

In his latest assault on the 1st amendment, President Donald Trump has filed suit against the New York Times, widely considered to be the most venerable news organization in the country.
At the heart of the suit is Trump’s anger at the Times publicizing his grift and moral turpitude prior to the 2024 election. As with other suits Trump has filed against media companies since recapturing the White House, legal experts have said that the suit is completely without merit, and is designed instead to intimidate and control the Times.
Trump is claiming that the Times reporting was an example of “election interference” and cites their endorsement of Kamala Harris as proof.

TRUMP’S HOSTILE TAKEOVER OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE
President Donald Trump is trying to convince an an appeals court to set aside a stay from a lower court and let him fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook “for cause”. The “cause”, he claims, is mortgage fraud.
The legal problem he faces is that Cook has produced firm documentation that proves her innocence.
Lisa Cook was appointed to the Fed Board of Governors by President Joe Biden. She is the first black woman appointed to the Board.
If Trump’s case is rejected by the appeals court, he is expected to appeal directly to the Supreme Court. SCOTUS has ruled in the past that Fed Governors may not be fired by the president, except under extraordinary circumstances. If the Supreme Court allows this, it will be the first time in history that a Fed Governor has been fired. It will also give Trump near total control of the economy.
UPDATE 9/16/25 - The appeals court refused. Trump has vowed to appeal to the Supreme Court.

It’s a remarkable line for the “news” organization trusted by half the country.
September 10th, on the popular opinion program Fox and Friends, co host Lawrence Jones was advocating forced treatment or incarceration as a way of dealing with the mentally ill homeless people in the country. Co host Brian Kilmeade broke in saying “or involuntary lethal injection”.
When Jones responded “yeah”, Kilmeade finished by saying “Or something. Just kill them.”
Neither Jones or the other co host, Ainsley Earhardt, pushed back on Kilmeade’s statements.
The world has not heard language like this since the Nazi T4 program of the 1930’s.

BRAZILIAN EX PRESIDENT SENTENCED TO 27 YEARS
Brazilian ex president Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced to 27 years in prison yesterday by Brazil’s 5 member Supreme Court.
The sentence stems from his conviction on charges of trying to foment a coup to stay in power after he lost the election of 2022. Many people compare this event to what happened on January 6, 2021, in Washington. And, it’s no surprise - Bolsonaro is an admirer of Donald Trump. Bolsonaro has described his trial as a “witch hunt”.
Back in July, President Trump placed a 50% tariff on Brazilian goods, in an effort to bully Brazil into stopping Bolsonaro’s trial.

The person who assassinated conservative activist Charlie Kirk yesterday in Utah is still at large.
Police initially detained two different suspects, but released them after determining that they had nothing to do with the shooting.

JUDGE DISMISSES FAKE ELECTOR CASE
Lansing District Judge Kristen Simmons today dismissed the pivotal case that she has slow walked since it landed on her bench over 2 years ago, the Fake Elector 15.
In her ruling, Judge Simmons explained that she didn’t believe the state had enough evidence to convict, despite it being based largely on documents that each of the defendants had willfully signed. Judge Simmons also advanced the novel legal concept that because the defendants believed they were doing the right thing, they could not be guilty of the crime. She also opined that if people acted upon the advice of attorneys, it absolved them of criminal behavior.
No word on whether AG Dana Nessel will appeal. We can only hope she does.
Judge Simmons was appointed to the bench by governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2019.

Democratic led states are moving to protect vaccinations, which are under assault by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
In the Northeast, Massachusetts is leading a coalition of 8 states to come up with their own vaccine recommendations, and require insurers to pay for them. The same thing is happening on the west coast, where California, Oregon, and Washington are banding together.
No word yet about Michigan joining any such coalition.

President Trump has announce that he will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to his former attorney and former New York city mayor Rudy Giuliani. The Medal of Freedom is the highest award a civilian can win.
Giuliani was at the forefront of the effort to overturn the 2020 election, and had a huge role in spreading lies and disinformation about Joe Biden’s win. So much so that he famously lost a 148 million dollar defamation judgement to 2 Atlanta election workers. Of the over 60 court cases filed by Giuliani over the election, none succeeded. TRUMP TARIFFS ILLEGAL
So says the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in a 7-4 decision issued Friday. The decision upholds a prior ruling by the Court of International Trade.
In their decision, the judges said that the Emergency Economic Powers Act (the law Trump used to enable the tariffs) does not confer upon the president the power of taxation.
Stay tuned, this will soon go before the Supreme Court.
It seems like the federal courts are well aware of who pays the tariffs.

The Center for Disease Control is today essentially leaderless.
Yesterday, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. fired CDC Director Susan Monarez. Monarez had been approved by the Senate less than a month ago.

Then, a strange thing happened: Dr. Monarez refused to leave. So Trump stepped in and fired her.
It’s hard to see how this makes America great.
CORRECTION: Dr. Monarez was NOT fired by President Trump, but by a White House staffer. She maintains that, because she was confirmed by the Senate, only President Trump can fire her. She’s mounting a legal challenge. Stay tuned.

JUDGE TO HABBA: YOU’RE FIRED
Donald Trump’s former personal attorney, Alina Habba, who became his nominee for US Attorney for New Jersey, has been acting illegally since July 1. That’s the date that US District judges for New Jersey rejected her appointment, which they are within the law to do.
Trump employed a convoluted series of actions to get around this decision and keep her (including firing a career prosecutor appointed to take her place), but Judge Matthew Brann ruled that the administration acted illegally.
Habba’s legal reputation has consisted, mainly, of being admonished and lectured by various judges about basic court room functions like the proper procedures for introducing evidence and questioning witnesses.

That is not “leans” as in “depends on”. No, it’s the gangster slang, meaning “I’ll break your legs”.
What has got Trump so upset at Colorado? He wants them to pardon Tina Peters, the former Mesa County Clerk convicted of tampering with voting machines to steal the 2020 election on behalf of Trump.
Peters is currently serving a 9 year sentence. She was convicted on state charges, putting her safely out of reach of Trump’s pardon power. This, no doubt, is the source of Trump’s impotent rage.
One wonders when we here in Michigan will see similar justice for our 2020 Republican fake electors and equipment tamperers.

TEXAS ATTEMPTS TO RIG 2026 ELECTION
The Texas legislature yesterday voted to do a highly unusual redistricting in the middle of the census cycle. Redistricting is mandated every 10 years, along with the census, and Texas completed their last one in 2022. Texas Republicans hope to gain an additional 5 seats in the next US House of Representatives. Texas was ordered to attempt this bum rush on American democracy by none other than President Donald Trump.
Major blue states California and New York have vowed to respond, but there are obstacles in the way. Blue states, always the leaders in voter access and fairness, have largely promoted independent redistricting commissions to apportion their congressional districts, so legislation enabling a special apportionment session will be necessary.
Independent redistricting is, by the way, a very good idea. But it needs everyone to play by the same rules. If one side is allowed to game the system while the other is restrained from doing so, the only benefit goes to the cheaters.

WHAT WAS GAINED?
President Trump walked into his summit meeting with dictator Vladimir Putin saying Russia would have to agree to an immediate cease fire or face crushing sanctions.
He walked out with no cease fire, no sanctions, but saying Ukraine could end the war in a day if they just gave up territory. Putin, meanwhile, had his world isolation ended, avoided sanctions, and kept right on bombing Ukraine.

RIGGING THE 2026 ELECTION
President Donald Trump vowed Monday to end all mail in voting and get rid of voting machines.
Mail in voting is used by 1/3 of all Americans and vote tabulators are in use in nearly every voting precinct.
The US constitution gives no authority to the president to regulate voting. Those functions are left to individual states.
To justify his dictatorial comments, Trump claimed states “are merely an ‘agent’ for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes” and must do what the federal government “as represented by the President of the United States” tells them to do.

Far right conspiracy “news” network Newsmax has agreed to settle the 1.6 billion dollar defamation suit brought against it by Dominion Voting Systems, for 67 million dollars.
Dominion brought the suit after Newsmax repeatedly broadcast the lie that Dominion voting equipment was used to cheat in the 2020 election.
Dominion earlier won a similar settlement from Fox News, for the same reason, in the amount of 787 million dollars.

After losing his 2020 bid for a House of Representatives seat in New Mexico, Republican candidate Solomon Pena staged drive by shootings at the residences of 4 different Democratic officials. Pena was sentenced yesterday to 80 years in federal prison.
Pena had insisted that his election loss was due to the election being “rigged”, despite the fact that he lost by 50 points.
It’s a federal sentence, so no word yet on whether President Trump will issue a pardon. It’s entirely possible, seeing that Pena was acting on Trump’s behalf.

Calling crime in the city “out of control”, President Trump is threatening another American city with federal occupation. Trump ordered an additional 450 federal law enforcement personnel deployed to the city on Saturday, and plans are in the works to also deploy the DC National Guard.
In the real world, violent crime in Washington DC is actually down 26%.
Trump has also ordered the homeless to leave the city. He offered no explanation of where they will go or how they will get there because, well, they’re homeless. Yet these people, most of whom are at the low point in their lives, are such a threat that the National Guard is required to protect us from them.

Governor Whitmer took another one for the team Tuesday when she traveled to Washington for an in person meeting with President Trump.
In the meeting, the Governor stressed that tariffs, as they are being levied, are hurting the auto industry. Despite Trump’s claim that the main reason for tariffs is bringing back manufacturing, the way the tariffs are structured now is actually making American auto manufacturers LESS competitive in our own country.
The auto industry accounts for 600,000 jobs across Michigan. According to the BLS, Michigan has lost 7500 manufacturing jobs since Trump returned to the presidency.
Governor Whitmer also asked him about the as yet non existent FEMA money to help with the effects of last spring’s ice storm.

TRUMPSTEIN - THE MONSTER THAT WILL NOT DIE
Like the antagonist in Mary Shelley’s classic novel, the Epstein Affair created by MAGA seems destined to pursue Republicans and Donald Trump to the ends of the earth. As of July 29, a whopping 79% of Americans want all of the Epstein files released.
It would be difficult, these days, to find a topic on which more Americans agree. The reason is simple - Epstein was the worst child sex trafficker of this era. His services, however, were not cheap. Many very wealthy people paid him to have sex with children, a crime as great as those of Epstein himself. Everyone wants to know who those people were.
Epstein’s assistant in crime, Ghislaine Maxwell, was convicted and is serving a 20 year sentence. She was recently interviewed by the Deputy Attorney General himself, an unprecedented event despite the President’s assertion that it was “not unusual and totally above board”. Maxwell must have told the Deputy AG what he wanted to hear, because she was transferred to a minimum security facility days later, in another highly unusual move. Trump, meanwhile, denied any knowledge of Maxwell’s transfer, a laughable claim for a control freak who has made the DOJ his private law firm.
Every attempt at deflection, and they are coming in bunches every day, only adds fuel to the fire. It’s so bad that a strategy meeting was scheduled at VP Vance’s house to discuss how to make Epstein go away. This meeting was cancelled when the press got wind of it, and Vance denied it was happening, but not really - it was moved to the White House itself.
It’s not going away. Perhaps it’s because of all those photos of Trump and Epstein, or perhaps it’s because of all the nice things Trump said about him.

MAGA FANTASIES CHECKED BY REALITY
You could almost hear the dancing and clapping yesterday as the FBI announced that they would provide help to round up and arrest the Texas Democrats who broke quorum and fled to other states to defend democracy.
Except - there is nothing they can do. The tactic employed by the Texas Democrats is enshrined in the Texas constitution. They haven’t even broken a state law, much less a federal one.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has made vague references to “bribery” but, as with most MAGA conspiracies, there is no evidence whatsoever to support it.
This situation bears watching closely. If the FBI DOES arrest Democrats who have committed no crimes, and drags them across state lines, it will be an inflection point for our party and, more importantly, for our republic.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has cancelled nearly half a billion dollars in mRNA development funds. The funds were being used to develop COVID, flu, and bird flu vaccines.

Kennedy said, "HHS has determined that mRNA technology poses more risk than benefits for these respiratory viruses."

WAR ON CANADA CONTINUES
Out of all the questionable Trump policies, this remains one of the most baffling. Canada has been our most steadfast ally and a top 3 trading partner. What is to be gained by causing them economic pain?

Trump called the data a “scam”, and also said the numbers were “rigged” against him. With a little more effort, he could have probably worked in a few more of his favorite words, like fake and hoax.
To be clear, the recent 3 months jobs report is so bad that you have to go all the way back to Trump’s first administration and his botched handling of COVID to find a worse 3 month period.

That’s the four word response from Texas House Democrats to Governor Greg Abbott’s threat to remove them from their elected positions.
The legislators left the state of Texas in order to deny Republicans a quorum and prevent a blatant gerrymander attempt ordered by President Trump that would give Republicans as many as 5 additional seats in the US House of Representatives. Ordinarily, redistricting is done after a census, and Texas completed their last one in 2022.
Abbott has given the Democrats until 3:00 PM today to return, or face removal.

Speaking at an event last Wednesday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told the audience that the “Trump Accounts” created by the “Big, Beautiful Bill” would be a “backdoor for privatizing Social Security”.

REPUBLICANS TARGET JACK SMITH
In their ongoing efforts to normalize criminal behavior and destroy the rule of law, the Department of Justice has announced that they are opening an investigation into former Special Prosecutor Jack Smith, for violations of the Hatch Act.
The Hatch Act is the federal statute that prohibits public employees from engaging in political activities on the job.
Americans see this for what it is, a blatant effort by President Trump to take revenge on those who try to hold him accountable. As such, it’s a much more serious violation of the Hatch Act than anything Jack Smith ever did.

TRUMP CURSES OUT DEMOCRATIC LEADER
The Senate is headed home for break with dozens of President Trump’s appointments unconfirmed. Trump wanted them to stay through summer break to get them confirmed, but Democrats have been very successful at slow walking them - which, by the way, is the very same thing Republicans did to President Biden.
Given the quality of Trump’s appointments so far - or, rather, lack thereof - we have to count this as a win for America and Democrats.

DOW JONES FALLS OVER 500 POINTS
In response to weak jobs numbers and new tariffs, the bellwether Dow Jones Industrial average fell 542 points on Friday, deepening concerns over Trump’s handling of the economy.

JULY JOBS REPORT DISMAL
The July jobs report showed that our economy created only 73,000 jobs in July, well below the already anemic 115,000 that had been forecast.
In addition, the May and June jobs numbers were revised, with a loss of 258,000 jobs over what had been reported, meaning the economy created only 19,000 jobs in May, and 14,000 in June.
In response, President Trump fired the messenger, commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Erika McEntarfer. Trump also accused the commissioner of faking data to help Vice President Kamala Harris in her failed election bid last fall.
Where do we go from here? Can any numbers coming out of Washington be trusted now? And, is Trump driving our economy off a cliff? It certainly looks like it.

RCSO SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH ICE
On June 5, 2025, the Roscommon County Sheriffs Office became only the 5th law enforcement agency in Michigan to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The RCSO entered this agreement under the “Task Force Model”.
Among the things detailed in this agreement is the idea that citizens can be questioned and detained for the mere suspicion that they are “illegal aliens”. It also makes clear that, except for training and some IT services, Roscommon County is on the hook for ANY expenses associated with this agreement.
As of this article, there are now 6 Michigan LEAs (out of hundreds) that have signed these agreements with ICE.
Roscommon County’s economy is based on tourism. We have no agriculture to speak of. We have not, in the past, had a large “Illegal alien” problem. What is the point of this agreement? We have been provided with no evidence that the benefits outweigh the cost.
