‘Wake up America’

Those of you who are drinking the Kool-Aid, wake up! With the passing of President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, our $36 trillion national debt will keep rising. And, who are the beneficiaries? Not the little guy, but the guys who are already rich.

And, who’s going to suffer from Trump’s tariffs on the rest of the world, and the DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) effect? We all are. Don’t forget, tariffs are taxes on the consumer. The cost of living is going way up, not down, as Trump promised. Groceries, insurance, building materials, automobiles, utilities, etc., are all on the rise.

And then, there’s the damage to our status with our allies, and our American exceptionalism.

The red carpet-clapping hands-Air Force flyover-welcome for President Putin on U.S. soil, an evil, internationally indicted war criminal, and one of our most ruthless adversaries, was shameful and despicable, especially after the embarrassing, disgraceful treatment of President Zelenskyy by Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance in the oval office.

For the U.S. to stall, kowtow to Putin and back away from helping Ukraine, a sovereign nation, defend itself against the illegitimate, unprovoked Russian invasive land grab, and its decimation and killing in Ukraine, is deplorable.

What’s been going on in this country since January, 2025, is like a downward, backward spiral, a blatant disregard and disrespect, with impunity and immunity (thanks to the United States Supreme Court), for our laws, including the weaponization (sound familiar?) of our justice system.

Is this what we’ve chosen? An authoritarian state? I thought the 77 million who voted for our current administration were anti-big government and anti-deep state?

Well, take a good look. The irony and hypocrisy are staring us right in the face!

How does Trump’s glad-handing and deference to Putin help the cause for peace and stop the killing and destruction? These actions are not Nobel Peace Prize worthy.

Talk about your wokeism! Wake up America! Open your eyes. Stand up.

Speak out. Be brave. Use your vote.

I’m urging you to defend and save our democracy while it hangs by a thread!

No Kings Protests of February 14

The Democrats from Roscommon County at the “NO KINGS” Day. We had members from Gaylord to Lansing.

At the start of the protest, the crowd was small, but as the day got warmer, it grew to and estimate of over 2000 people on the lawn in front of the State Capitol. Participants held creative signs and flags to show their individual concerns. They sat on the lawn, some in chairs, but most simply stood up to see the speakers. All were ready to respond to speakers by chanting in unison and cheering when speakers made a good statement. Drivers honked in support. Some wore face masks in defiance of Trump, while others donned shirts, hats, and sweatshirts with slogans. There was no violence, but police officers were present for traffic control. Participants proudly displayed their signs, expressing their anger and passion.

Some posters focused on the issues---NO KINGS IN THE USA SINCE 1776--PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION ---SCIENCE DOES NOT MAKE THINGS UP---ALL LIVES MATTER---STAND UP FOR OUR VETS---SILENCE TYRANNY--- THREE BENCHES, NOT ONE THRONE---OBAY YOUR OATH---MAKE AMERICA SANE AGAIN---SUPPORT OUR VETS---PRISON WITHOUT DUE PROCESS IS A CONCENTRATION CAMP, and so forth.

Other participants held posters that were sharply critical of Donald Trump and other government officials---HE SHOULD BE IN THE BIG HOUSE, NOT THE WHITE HOUSE---OUR LAST KING WAS GEORGE III, HE WAS CRAZY TOO----MEIN TRUMPF---DEAR CANADIANS, WE DON’T LIKE HIM EITHER---DEPORT THE NAZI---ELECT A CLOWN, EXPECT A CIRCUS---IF WE CAN AFFORD A PARADE WE CAN AFFORD MEDICAID---LETS GET A COMPETENT CONGRESS---LOCK HIM UP--LETS SUPPORT TRUMP FOR A THIRD TERM, IN THE BIG HOUSE---DEPORT ICE, and so forth.

It was inspiring to see so many people united in the belief that Donald Trump does not represent them, and that it's time to end the chaos.
